In this episode, Melinda is really excited to learn more about the State School Superintendent for Mississippi's Advisory Council as she talks with two of its members. Ireland Rakestraw, a senior, and Shaddai Galvez, a junior, are both students at Blue Mountain High School and were appointed as members of the council. The Advisory Council is made up of 150 members. Ireland and Shaddai have already met with the council at The Capitol in Jackson. The council is made up of high school juniors, seniors, and students in their first year of college. The girls have gotten to know people from all over the state. The goal of the council is to take insight from students to better the education system in Mississippi. Ireland and Shaddai have already learned so much about what is going on in the state and they look forward to the next meeting in February. Give this podcast a listen to learn more.
